Born in Wisconsin, a child dairy farmer who entered his first art competition on Cheerios boxes until, at eight he moved to the suburbs of Milwaukee where studied at the Milwaukee Art Center, majored in art in public school and later earned his BFA at University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee and subsequently taught as a grade school teacher in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Upon returning to the Continental US, he earned his MFA in Photography, Painting, and Drawing at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

For decades,  Jack Hernon has energized dual careers as a professional color specialist and as a fine artist. With nine years as an art educator, over thirty-five years of exhibiting works in galleries with public collections in North Carolina, Oklahoma and New York.  He is also represented in private collections throughout the US, France, South America, and the US Virgin Islands.  He works mostly in acrylic and mixed media.

Seriously, Jack is a lifelong artist, dedicated to the serious pursuit of art making.
