Featuring guest artist Heather Shirin and member artist Katie Chasteen
Heather Shirin excerpt from Artist Statement
My current series focuses on portraits of women, featured in a quiet and reflective way. I am exploring relationships that women have with other women - the closeness between sisters, mothers, lovers and best friends. I capture the vulnerability, strength and romance that women share when together - using materials that define their beauty and presence.
Katie Chasteen is a visual artist whose work gravitates toward our direct yet elusive relationship with the natural world. Raised and currently living in North Carolina, she received her BFA in Photography from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Katie is a collective member at Delurk Gallery and teaches through the Sawtooth School for Visual Art.
First Friday Gallery Hop
First Friday of every month marks the opening of a new month long show. Featured Artists are on hand for the event so it's a great time to ask questions and choose your favorite work of art before it's gone.
The Streets are closed to cars and gallery goers can stroll worry free throughout the Arts District to meet Winston-Salem's arts community, get a peek at the new work from local and regional artists, and share the evening with friends old and new.
